In 1975 two men bought a 35,000 square foot building with the hopes of growing their dreams and ambitions inside. In the small town of Ferndale, Michigan, Tony Mooter and Len Horton set sail on a voyage in the corrugated packaging industry and have traveled a long way since then.
The two men purchased all of the machines that they would need to get their business under way: one letter press, one taper, one slitter, and one stitcher. With these machines and a handful of employees, they began to produce corrugated packaging for some automotive companies. Tony, Len, nor the employees were prepared for what was to come in the next few years.
The business began to pick up and the demand for corrugated packaging was rising and a change had to be made. If Universal Container wanted to sustain the customer demands for the product, then the company would have to grow even more.
Years passed and Universal Container Corporation has grown into what it is today. UCC now operates under a 125,000 square foot building. The building houses all new equipment, which includes; 2 flex-o-folder gluer machines, 2 rotary die cutters, 2 taper gluers, pre-glue cover machines, a flat bed die cutter, and a slitter band saw.
The years from 1975 until now have been years of growth and development for the management team of Universal Container. That team has used those years to develop a company that produces all that is expected from a high quality corrugated packaging facility. Universal is committed to you the customer and will continue to raise the standards of excellence.
